Paradigm framing
Nutritional Immunology, particularly the impact of diet on immune and metabolic function.
Highlights
This research operates within the established paradigm of nutritional immunology. It investigates a specific question (the impact of African heritage diets vs. Western diets) using standard methodologies (randomized controlled trial, multi-omics analysis). The study does not challenge existing paradigms but rather contributes to the body of knowledge within the field. While some findings, such as the sustained effects of short-term dietary interventions, are noteworthy, they do not constitute a paradigm shift or model crisis. The study reinforces and refines existing understanding. I am uncertain between 'Normal Science' and 'Model Drift', but lean towards 'Normal Science' as the described effects mostly validated previous findings within the existing paradigm. The observed sustained effects of diet, while interesting, represent incremental additions to the current understanding rather than a significant departure from established models.
